If you’re in the Wasatch, you know that we’ve been getting snow yet again this week. Clouds have been clinging to the mountains and the city has even gotten some snow flurries. As of this morning, Alta Ski Area was reporting 33 inches from this storm, bringing them to a base depth of 138 inches and a season snow total of 366 inches.
I got a report from two local skiers that the powder yesterday on the south facing slopes directly across the road from Alta Ski Area was pretty phenomenal: “floaty, forgiving, and deep.” That sounds pretty ideal to me and I’m stoked to get out this weekend and find my own turns.
With temperatures dropping today, there’s going to be some nice powder skiing to be had this weekend. Stay tuned for road conditions reports and the Utah Avalanche Center daily forecast and make sure you get a parking permit for specific areas as required.
