The Hale Center Theater in Orem, a long-standing part of the city’s arts scene, is planning to move and change its name. The theater will relocate to the doTERRA campus in Pleasant Grove and be renamed The Ruth, as stated on the Hale Center Theater Orem’s website. The theater is known for productions like “Peter Pan,” “Pride & Prejudice,” “A Christmas Carol,” and “Annie.”

The theater is recognized for its quality productions and intimate atmosphere. Regular visitor Lauralyn Malmstrom appreciates the theater’s quality and comfort. Elodia Spray, a teacher who moved to Utah a decade ago, also enjoys the theater, especially its transformation during a production.

Theater reviewer Blair Howell praised the Hale Orem for its excellent work and creativity. Howell, a Utah resident for 15 years, emphasized the theater’s understanding of theater, its casting, and director choices. He also mentioned Utah’s active theater community, which he believes justifies the Hale’s expansion.

The Ruth, named after the theater’s founders Ruth and Nathan Hale, will be larger than the current theater, covering 70,000 square feet with two floors and stages. One of the theaters will honor the original with a 300-seat studio theater featuring an improved stage and seating. The expansion reflects the importance of the arts in Utah.
