Utah man convicted of murdering his girlfriend in Navajo Nation

SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — A Utah man was convicted of second-degree murder on Thursday after a federal jury found him guilty of “deliberately and intentionally” killing his girlfriend.

Randy Lansing, 40, was convicted of murder in a four-day trial held at the United States District Courthouse in Salt Lake City, according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office–District of Utah press release.

Lansing has been found guilty of beating and killing Tammy Clark in April 2022 in front of her two young daughters near McElmo Creek in the Navajo Nation.

Prosecutors say Lansing drove Clark, her daughters and another woman to the creek and began drinking a beer in the parked car. He then proceeded to “violently beat” Clark in front of the others and put her in the back of the SUV before driving back to Anith.

Neighbors allegedly tried to help Clark once they arrived in Anith until first responders could arrive. She was transported to a regional hospital where she later was pronounced dead.
