SBI investigating American Fork road rage incident after driver fires shots through car window

AMERICAN FORK, Utah ( ABC4 ) — A road rage incident in American Fork Thursday night has caught the attention of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) after a driver attempted to ram another car and fired shots, nearly striking those inside the other car, according to Utah Highway Patrol.

At around 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 15, a driver began following another car and attempted to ram their vehicle near the Point of the Mountain, just south of Bluffdale, according to Sgt. Cameron Roden, UHP.

The driver reportedly followed the other car down to American Fork, where the alleged victim tried to take an exit and escape.

The alleged aggravated driver then reached for a gun, causing the others to duck and the victim driver to hit the gas pedal in an attempt to escape. The aggravator then reportedly fired shots through their car window, narrowly missing the driver and passengers.

The aggravated driver has not been taken into custody at this time. Police are currently seeking any information, tips, or dash cam video of the incident.
