Skiers unaccounted for after avalanche in Salt Lake County

SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — Rescue crews are searching for two skiers following an avalanche Thursday morning in Salt Lake County.

The Unified Fire Department said a rescue team responded around 10 a.m. to an avalanche near Lone Peak, which is east of Draper.

Initially, the avalanche was reported in Big Cottonwood Canyon, but it was further down the Wasatch Range.

According to officials, three skiers were involved in the avalanche and two remain unaccounted for. Search and rescue operations remain ongoing.
