Winter Olympic and Paralympic games’ location in United States announced

The Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will take place in Salt Lake City , Utah in 2034, with the city set to host the spectacle for a second time.

The International Olympic Committee took to social media after its membership gave its final approval to its Executive Board’s recommendations as the Games return to the United States for a first time since 2002. The vote on the host city saw 83 approve and with six disapproving and six abstaining.

Announcing the news, their post read: “In ten years, the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will be hosted in Salt Lake City, Utah . We can’t wait to see the best snow and ice sports athletes in action again!”

Previously, USOPC Chief Executive Officer Sarah Hirshland said: “When you think about how many people we can touch with the (LA28) Games and backending the decade with a Winter Games … this very well may be the most important decade of sport in this country, and we see a massive obligation and an incredible opportunity.”
