Taylorsville man indicted after allegedly touching 13-year-old inappropriately

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (ABC4) — A Taylorsville man was formally charged Monday after he was accused of inappropriately touching a 13-year-old girl, according to the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office.

Juan Parra Reyes, 28, was indicted on two counts of sexual abuse of a child, both second-degree felonies. On Aug. 3, the 13-year-old victim was walking home from a park with another person when Parra Reyes allegedly grabbed her hand, stated his age, and asked for her age.

The victim did not tell Parra Reyes her age. He then reportedly inappropriately touched the teenager, leaving her “shocked and scared,” according to charging documents.

The teenager got away and ran home to tell her parents about the incident, which prompted them to call police. The indictment said the teenager was still frightened when the officers arrived. Police say that she was “crying [and] shaking” and appeared “very emotional.”
