West Valley City man indicted on attempted murder charges, remains at large

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah ( ABC4 ) — A West Valley City man was formally charged with attempted murder charges after he allegedly stabbed a woman multiple times in the face, neck, chest, and arm, leaving her in critical condition. Following the incident, police said the man might have fled the state.

Juan Daniel Melendez-Borunda, 27, was indicted in the Third District Court on one count of attempted murder and three counts of unlawful distribution of an intimate image. All charges carry domestic violence enhancements.

Charging documents state that Melendez-Borunda had gotten into an argument with a woman, after which the two separated. While the woman was asleep at her residence, Melendez-Borunda called her and asked her to meet him outside.
