According to the affidavit of probable cause, authorities with Layton Police initiated an online chat operation with the assistance of the Utah Internet Crimes Against Children.
Authorities used a site where ads of a sexual nature were placed. A person, later to be identified as Garcia Godoy, responded to the ad.
“One individual began speaking with me and did not care that I was younger than 18 years old. The suspect communicated with me using his email address….” the affidavit of probable cause said.
Police say that the suspect’s communication only intensified and he would describe in explicit detail what he wanted to do. Garcia Godoy told police that he frequently travels to Utah for business, and would send unsolicited explicit photographs of him.
