Suspect arrested in drug-related case that put elementary in Sandy on ‘secure’ protocol

SANDY, Utah (KUTV) — A suspect was arrested after reports that a man described as “possibly being on drugs and agitated” was attempting to get into an elementary school in Sandy before school started.

The incident happened Thursday shortly after 8 a.m. at Crescent Elementary in the area of 11100 South and 200 East, when a man approached the front doors of the school, which were locked, and attempted to get inside, according to court documents.

When he couldn’t get inside at the main entrance, he reportedly ran to doors located at the back of the school and tried again…
