Its Official: Do NOT Use This Word To Describe Utah Like Ever

If you have moved to Utah or you have lived here for a long time, you can now properly refer to residents of the beehive state thanks to the latest legislative session. And now that it has been decided, don’t even think about saying or spelling it incorrectly.

Utahns are not Utahans

I have never heard someone use the word Utahans, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened and I’m glad this is getting cleared up before the problem grows. Can you imagine if that pronunciation became common place?

In Utah we already feel a little insecure about our backward ways and adding a silly nickname for residents wouldn’t help. Thank goodness those elected officials in charge of making laws and designating things took care of this one.

Governor Cox Signs the Bill

If you didn’t know, in the 2025 legislative session there was a bill proposed to address exactly what citizens of our state will be called. S.B. 230 Utah Resident Terminology Amendments sponsored by Daniel McCay states its purpose:
