Parts of Temple Square now open for general conference weekend

SALT LAKE CITY – Tens of thousands of people will flock to downtown Salt Lake City this weekend for general conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

For the first time in several years, parts of Temple Square are open again to welcome them. The renovated grounds feature several new statues, including one of the biblical five wise virgins that was unveiled just this week.

“It’s wonderful,” said John Seaman, visiting Temple Square Friday afternoon with his wife, Mary. “It looks like that it’s designed for people to spend more time at each monument instead of rushing through Temple Square.”…
