Tyson Hamilton originally started selling collectibles, antiques, and vintage items through eBay around October of 2014 in order to help his mother’s shop, Capital City Antique Mall, but once he started running out of room at home and in his garage, he needed a solution– and Another Man’s Treasure was opened on April 16, 2015.
Hamilton decided on the name “Another Man’s Treasure” because people kept telling him he was just selling other people’s junk and he [Hamilton] with his forever-the-optimist attitude said, “You’re right, I do, but one man’s junk is another man’s treasure.”
Hamilton says he feeds off the negativity, as he puts it he “buys junk and sells antiques too,” and stated his home is full of antique pieces he has come across over the years.
“It’s all perception,” he said. “Some people like IKEA furniture and modern stuff, and that’s fine, they can like whatever they want. But good quality furniture and good quality products were made in the 50s, 60s, and 70s that you don’t find today.”
