A high-speed incident involving a stolen truck and Utah State Bureau of Investigation agents ended with one person in custody last Thursday. According to FOX 13 Now, the chase began when agents located a stolen vehicle in downtown Salt Lake City, subsequently finding it parked behind an apartment complex on the 1700 Block of State Street, the driver of the stolen vehicle crashed into multiple agents vehicles after they tried to pin him down with their cars, this maneuver did not prevent the suspect from attempting to bypass the block.
In a confrontation that quickly escalated, the suspect in the stolen truck struck the first agent’s vehicle, causing it to move enough for an attempted escape, as detailed by ABC4 News. The collision resulted in one agent being knocked to the ground, while the truck then crashed head-on with the second agent’s vehicle, in an apparent push to flee, one of the two agents and the suspect were taken to the hospital as a precaution after the commotion.
No severe injuries were reported during the incident, but two agents did sustain injuries, as per KSL Newsradio. The agents had reportedly surrounded the suspect with their vehicles near downtown Salt Lake City when the collision occurred.
