SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — The location for a new homeless campus, to be financed with up to $25 million in Utah tax money, is still not being revealed four months after an announcement of the site was expected.
“The timeline will be delayed and has been delayed due to locating a property,” said Wayne Niederhauser, state homeless coordinator.
But there are hints the deciders — Utah Homeless Services Board members — have a preferred site, though no one is publicly saying where it is.

A bill, passed by the Legislature and signed by Gov. Cox, gives the state power to use eminent domain to acquire property for the campus — which could have 1,000 beds or more — under certain conditions:
- The property must be owned by Salt Lake City
- It must be in unincorporated Salt Lake County
- It must be on or after May 7, when the new state law takes effect
