Man convicted of terrorizing Salt Lake neighbors, assaulted police officers denied parole

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — The man who terrorized his neighbors in Sugar House for years, assaulted police officers, and tried to kill his elderly father has been denied parole.

Maurice Raffoul was sent to prison in September 2024 following multiple 2News Investigations, which exposed his death threats to others and unpredictable, violent behavior.

2News Chief Investigative Reporter Wendy Halloran first exposed the problem in 2023 and has covered it extensively since. Raffoul was arrested by Adult Probation and Parole following the first 2News Investigation in November 2023 and incarcerated at the Salt Lake County Jail without bail. Since then, 2News Investigates has filed more than twenty reports on Raffoul’s vile, profanity-laced tirades both in person and over the phone.
