Man rescued after being swept away in Big Cottonwood Creek

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A man is recovering after being swept away downstream in Big Cottonwood Creek Sunday afternoon.

Unified Fire Authority officials says firefighters from their agency and Murray Fire Department responded to a report of a swift water rescue in Big Cottonwood Creek around 5 p.m. Sunday. Unified Fire says a man was carried down the creek about 50 feet before being stranded on a rock.

UFA used their heavy rescue team and ladder truck to lower a rescuer down to the male victim, who was recovered and taken to shore. The victim was reportedly “cold plunging” with a group of friends before being swept downstream…
