Video captures bicycles blocking traffic, drivers yelling during Salt Lake ‘999 Ride’

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Salt Lake City bicyclists gather weekly for a community ride that has grown astronomically over the years, but some feel the activity is causing problems for others on the road.

A massive group of cyclists gathers every Thursday on 9th and 9th for what’s known as the “999 Ride,” and KUTV captured a video of riders blocking the intersection of 200 East and University Boulevard for several minutes. The crew that filmed the video was later stopped at the intersection for a couple of light cycles, just waiting for the crowd to pass.

Drivers were honking, calling participants’ names, and yelling at them to “obey traffic laws.”…
