SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Utah leaders said they are “closely monitoring” and preparing for possible protests as federal and state authorities work to contain the protests in Los Angeles.
In Utah, protesters gathered in Salt Lake City in a show of solidarity with Los Angeles on Saturday. Those protesters told KUTV they intend to return the following week, but maintain a peaceful demonstration.
The anti-ICE protests began on Friday, June 6, in Los Angeles and have since spread to other areas of the nation. Most notably, more than 80 people were arrested in New York City on Wednesday for rioting in Foley Square and marching through Lower Manhattan.
