TOOELE, Utah (KUTV) — Authorities have warned that strong winds and low humidity will create critical fire weather conditions across much of Utah through Saturday.
The National Weather Service issued four Wind Advisories for multiple regions of the state, including the Tooele and Rush Valleys, western Millard and Juab counties, much of central and southern Utah, and the Salt Lake Desert and Mountains.
The advisory for the Tooele and Rush Valleys — which includes the cities of Tooele, Grantsville, and Vernon — calls for southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. The advisory will remain in effect until 9 p.m. Friday, June 20. Forecasters said that winds could reach up to 65 mph near Lake Point and the Stansbury Mountains along I-80.
In western Millard and Juab counties — covering Cedar City, Beaver, Little Sahara, Delta, and Milford — southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph prompted another Wind Advisory in effect through 9 p.m. Friday.
