Fire ignites near homes in Draper after report of car shooting fireworks out its windows, officials say

DRAPER — A hillside in Draper went up in flames late Wednesday after fire officials received a report of a car shooting fireworks out of its windows, according to the Draper Fire Department.

Initial calls came in at about midnight; crews said they had the fire under control by about 3:30 a.m. While crews said it only burned a half-acre, it came dangerously close to neighborhoods in the area along Mike Weir Drive.

KSL TV caught a glimpse of the flames Wednesday night from behind the Siempre Utah weddings reception center. Luckily, the wind was pushing the flames away from the nearest homes around midnight…
