SLCPD seeks help identifying suspect in Fourth of July shooting at The Gateway

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Police are asking the public for help identifying the suspect or suspects from a shooting that occurred during the Fourth of July celebration at The Gateway in Salt Lake City.

According to a press release from the Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD), officers have reviewed surveillance footage but have not yet identified a suspect. Law enforcement is now requesting that any member of the public who may have witnessed or heard something come forward to help.

On the Fourth of July, SLCPD was contacted around 11:21 p.m. regarding someone who had been injured during the fireworks event. A second person injured in the shooting was located soon after, and both people had non-life-threatening injuries.

Near one of the injured, police found a “small-caliber bullet.” At this time, SLCPD says that they believe the bullets were fired into the sky, then fell with enough velocity to injure the two individuals…
