OAKLEY, Utah — A family and community in Riverton are grieving the loss of 17-year-old Nico Lozano, who was killed in a motorcycle accident last week along Weber Canyon Road in Summit County.
The crash occurred the evening of Wednesday, July 9, when Lozano was riding eastbound, alone, about seven miles from the mouth of the canyon. According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, the teen failed to navigate a turn, and his motorcycle slid off the road, striking a fence post. Deputies responded around 6 p.m., after a passerby discovered the scene and called 911. Officials believe the accident happened roughly 30 minutes earlier.
Lozano was wearing a helmet, but had already succumbed to his injuries by the time first responders arrived. In a statement the next day, the Sheriff’s Office extended condolences to his family, friends, and the wider community.
