Some passengers were injured aboard a Delta plane Wednesday evening when it encountered severe turbulence after leaving Salt Lake City. The flight, bound for Amsterdam, was diverted to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, where it landed safely at 7:45 p.m.
Paramedics and the airport fire department met the plane, and 25 passengers were taken to nearby hospitals for evaluation and treatment, Delta told The Associated Press.
“Medical personnel met the flight upon arrival to evaluate customers and crew. Twenty-five of those on board were transported to local hospitals for evaluation and care,” the airline said. “We are grateful for the support of all emergency responders involved.”
