Woman charged with embezzling from elementary school PTA fund

MAGNA, Utah (ABC4) — A woman is facing felony charges after allegedly embezzling from an elementary school PTA fund.

Paige Ward, 33, is facing nine felony charges of forgery and theft after allegedly stealing funds from the Magna Elementary School PTA fund where she served as the group’s treasurer.

On May 28, 2024, the school’s principal noticed a sizeable amount of PTA funds were missing. Court documents say the principal found the fund to have much less than previous years.

According to police, Ward admitted to forging several PTA checks and depositing the money into her personal account. Upon further investigation, officers discovered that Ward was unable to provide receipts for over $8,700 dating back to August of 2022…
