UDOT announces update in Bangerter Highway project

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — The Utah Department of Transportation have announced major progress on a construction project aimed at renovating Bangerter Highway.

On July 30, 2025, the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) announced that they had finished installing new pavement beneath the new interchange at 13400 South. This is a major milestone in an ongoing project to make Bangerter highway more like a freeway.

“Driving under the bridge is a big sign that this project is moving forward,” UDOT Region 2 Director Robert Stewart said of this milestone, “It’s always exciting when people can start using parts of the new infrastructure — it makes the progress feel real.”

Some work still needs to be done in order to complete this project. Crews will be working to shift traffic underneath the bridge through Monday, August 4. In the meantime, some restrictions will remain in place…
