SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A Salt Lake County non-profit food pantry that was just weeks away from shutting its doors received a second chance thanks to an overwhelming show of community support and one generous, anonymous donor.
The Food Justice Coalition, which provides healthy and nutritious food to underserved communities across the Salt Lake Valley, had been on the brink of closure in July. Founder and CEO Jeanette Padilla Vega said they were days away from having to dramatically scale back or shut down completely.
