21-year-old hit and killed on e-bike in Riverton, thrown over 180 feet

RIVERTON, Utah (ABC4) — A 21-year-old riding an e-bike passed away after being struck by a utility vehicle traveling at high speeds Thursday.

Owen Thomsen, 21, was struck by a white utility vehicle just before 6 a.m. while crossing 12600 South in Riverton, according to Josh Lee, a spokesperson for the Riverton Police Department.

Thomsen was taken to the hospital, but succumbed to his injuries soon after arriving. Lee says he was hit inside the crosswalk and was thrown over 180 feet during the collision.

Regular and backup power lost at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, ambulances being diverted

Police believe the driver was traveling at high speeds and possibly trying to “beat a red light.”…
