Davis County officials warn drivers after 14 car burglaries overnight in Fruit Heights

FRUIT HEIGHTS — Davis County officials are warning drivers to be extra cautious after a rise in car burglaries. Investigators said thieves are targeting unlocked vehicles — and in some cases taking off with dangerous items.

The Davis County Sheriff’s Office said Fruit Heights was hit especially hard overnight, with at least 14 reported burglaries near Nicholls Road and Mountain Road. Deputies believe there may be more victims who haven’t yet come forward.

“Vehicle burglaries are not a new trend,” said Stephanie Dinsmore, public information officer for the Davis County Sheriff’s Office. “We’re seeing more and more homeowners who are not taking the steps needed to secure their property.”…
