SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Aug. 31, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — Two-month-old Weila, Hogle Zoo’s baby orangutan, has a new ally.
Weila, born on June 21 to Kawan, was ignored by her mother, who had done the same after a previous pregnancy and birth.
Hogle Zoo’s staff was prepared for the possibility, and cuddled and bottle fed the newborn until she could be safely paired with a potential foster mom, Acara, who had demonstrated maternal behaviors with the babies of others in the past…
