SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — For the first time, the former principal of West High School—whose abrupt suspension prompted a student walkout last January—is telling his story, accusing the Salt Lake City School District of failing to protect students.
“I expressed my sincere concerns that the system had failed here,” said Dr. Jared Wright, who testified under subpoena before a Utah legislative committee this week.
Wright, now the principal of Granger High in the Granite District, said in October 2023, a girl was badly stabbed by a boy in a West High bathroom. She bled severely from the abdomen, and the boy was accused of smiling and celebrating after the brutal attack.
