Utah Misses the Mug: No Cities Ranked Among Best Coffee Cities

Today, Monday September 29th, is National Coffee Day, a time when Americans celebrate the magic elixir that turns grumpy zombies into productive members of society. Across the country, cities are toasting the day with latte art competitions, cold brew specials, and more espresso than a barista can handle. But here in Utah, the coffee celebration is… well, a bit lukewarm.

According to a new survey by WalletHub, which ranked the 100 best coffee cities in America for 2025, not a single Utah city cracked the list. That’s right — from Salt Lake City to St. George, our caffeine scene didn’t make the cut. Apparently, our love affair with coffee is more of a long-distance relationship.

How Did Wallet Hub Come Up With The Numbers?

WalletHub brewed its rankings using 12 metrics, including the number of coffee shops per capita, average cappuccino price, and even free Wi-Fi availability. Portland, Oregon, came out on top, proving once again that hipsters and caffeine are a match made in heaven. Other highly caffeinated cities included Orlando, Long Beach, Miami, and Seattle — which, let’s be honest, is basically the mothership of coffee culture…
