This Utah mom helps her kids raise money for Halloween costumes AND teaches them about finances

SALT LAKE CITY — Halloween costumes are getting more expensive every year, so one Utah mom found a creative way to help her children buy their own! Kate Mulford, a mother of four, started a family tradition called the “Mulford Café,” a one-day pop-up restaurant run entirely by her kids to earn money for their Halloween costumes.

“I did not want to buy four costumes,” Mulford said. “Especially because they love Spirit Halloween and those are so expensive.”

Instead, she gave her children three options: she could make their costumes, they could borrow one, or they could earn the money themselves…
