Kouri Richins attorneys speak exclusively to 2News, disputes ‘false narratives’ in case

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — In a rare interview, Kouri Richins attorneys are speaking out only to 2 News Investigates Wendy Halloran. They say there are four false narratives that are being reported about their client, and they have an ethical duty to come forward and correct them.

“The bigger problem we found is the narrative that’s going out in the media that isn’t accurate. It’s factually wrong,” said Wendy Lewis, one of Richins’ attorneys. “Our position is that as Kouri’s counsel, we have an obligation to make sure that what is out and what the public is seeing, what the community is seeing, is factually accurate. The prosecution isn’t necessarily saying things that are factually inaccurate, but they aren’t correcting what’s out, what the narrative is either. It’s just not being corrected. We’d hoped it would be. But at this point, as we get closer and closer, and we know that we’re going to be seeing a jury of her peers who have been watching this narrative and hearing this narrative, much of which is factually inaccurate, and that needs to be corrected because all we want is for Kouri Richards to have the opportunity to get a fair trial, as anyone would that is in that position, is to get a fair trial by the community, by a jury of her peers.”
