Heavy rains, high winds sweep northern Utah; 5K+ lose power, new flooding concerns in Rose Park neighborhood

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Oct. 12, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — A powerful storm front blew through Utah Saturday, bringing high winds, heavy rains and the threat of flooding to much of the state, including the Wasatch Front.

There was also a dazzling lighting display along with a 30 degree plunge in temperatures.

According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, winds gusts as high 60 miles per hour were recorded across northern Utah knocking out electricity to more than 5,000 Rocky Mountain Power customers in Salt Lake, Davis and Weber counties, 500 of whom were still without juice as of 10:30 a.m. Sunday…
