Utah Breaks 44-Year Weather Record

Salt Lake City, Utah, has broken its October rainfall record—previously set in 1981—after a wave of showers and thunderstorms swept across the Salt Lake Valley, the National Weather Service (NWS) said on Tuesday.

As of Tuesday, the NWS reported, the Salt Lake City area had seen 4.16 inches of rain so far in October, surpassing the 3.91 inches recorded in 1981.

The data came from the Salt Lake City ASOS at the SLC airport, which is the official climate site for the city, the NWS said.

  4. 5.14 inches (May 2011)
  5. 4.90 inches (April 1944)
  6. 4.89 inches (February 1998)
  7. 4.76 inches (May 1977)
  8. 4.66 inches (March 1891)
