SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Another day of a government shutdown on Thursday is unwelcome news to essential workers at Salt Lake City Airport, who received only partial pay during their last pay period a few days ago due to the shutdown.
If the government fails to reopen, those employees, which include TSA security, Customs and Borders Protection personnel, and air traffic controllers won’t get paid at all and will have to wait for backpay when the government is up and running again.
Local food pantries prepare for increased demand due to government shutdown
Amid more than two weeks of the shutdown, Salt Lake City Airport opened a food pantry in the hallway of their administrative office within the airport to help employees in need.
