A Salt Lake City Police Department officer was injured following an incident in which one person was shot and killed near South Salt Lake on Wednesday morning.
According to the department, officers were called to an assault in progress at approximately 9 a.m. at the corner of 2100 South and 300 West. When officers arrived, they found a suspect who they claimed was armed with a rock.
