SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Utah voters head to the polls Tuesday to decide a slate of high-profile municipal races, from open mayoral seats to competitive city council contests.
In Salt Lake City, two council seats are on the ballot as the capital once again uses ranked-choice voting. Spending in both races has surged, with candidates raising and spending roughly double what’s typical, according to city campaign finance reports.
In District 3, Council Member Chris Wharton is seeking a third term against challengers Blake McClary, Jake Seastrand, Liddy Huntsman-Hernandez, and David Berg. The race is nonpartisan, but Huntsman-Hernandez, daughter of former Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr., is running as an unaffiliated.
