Two Highland High Students Arrested with Weapon and Drugs at Sugar House Park

Two students from Highland High School were arrested on Monday after an anonymous tip led authorities to a weapon at Sugar House Park, as confirmed by school Principal Jeremy Chatterton. As obtained by KUTV, Chatterton revealed, “The incident involved students and a weapon. … Police arrested two students and confiscated the weapon.” The school was promptly placed in Secure Alert status, which lasted around 20 minutes, halting all ingress and egress while maintaining normal activities within.

According to Yandary Chatwin of the Salt Lake County School District, as reported by KSLTV, the precautionary lockdown was directly tied to the police activity in the adjacent park.
