MURRAY — A man convicted of shooting and killing his sister’s boyfriend in Murray in 2021 was sentenced last week to five years to life in prison.

James Scott Arnold, 29, was initially charged in 3rd District Court with murder, a first-degree felony, plus obstructing justice and possession of a gun by a restricted person, second-degree felonies.

He pleaded guilty in September to reduced charges of manslaughter, a second-degree felony, and discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, a first-degree felony. He was sentenced on Oct. 27 to one to 15 years for the manslaughter charge and five years to life in prison for the firearm charge…
