Salt Lake City, UT – A Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect late tonight as a strong storm system brings heavy mountain snow across the Southern Mountains of Utah, threatening difficult travel conditions through early Monday.
According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, the advisory runs from 11 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, with snow totals ranging from 6 to 12 inches above 9,000 feet and 2 to 6 inches between 7,500 and 9,000 feet. Areas including Alton, Brian Head, and surrounding high terrain are expected to see the most accumulation.
Forecasters say snow levels will begin unusually high—near 9,500 to 10,000 feet Saturday night—before rapidly dropping to 7,500 to 8,000 feet by Sunday afternoon.
