Making friends in 2025: 4 lessons kids should learn to help friendships thrive

SALT LAKE CITY — We want our kids to have good friends, but have we taught them how to make good friends?

KSL Parenting Contributor Heather Johnson identified four things we can teach our kids so their friendships thrive.

“We’re under this impression that they’re kind of just born with it, right? Of course, who doesn’t know how to be a good friend, or who doesn’t know how to make new friends?” Johnson said. “They don’t. We need to teach them.”
