SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — The Salt Lake County District Attorney will be announcing a charging decision in connection with the death an innocent bystander at the “No Kings” protest in June.
On June 14, 2025, Afa Ah Loo, 39, was shot and killed during a No Kings protest in downtown Salt Lake City. Police say a “peacekeeper” opened fire on a different protester, who was allegedly carrying an assault rifle. Ah Loo was struck by gunfire and would later succumb to his injuries.
Over five months later, District Attorney Sim Gill is expected to announce a charging decision relating to the investigation in a press conference Wednesday morning.

Just before 8 p.m. on the day of the shooting, Salt Lake City police officers responded to the area of 151 South State Street after hearing gunshots from that location. Officers arrived and found Ah Loo with critical wounds. He would later succumb to his injuries…
