Gov. Cox proposes $50M for homelessness services, including construction of SLC campus

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — Gov. Spencer Cox is proposing $50 million for homelessness over the next two years, with nearly all of that funding earmarked for a large homeless services campus planned in Salt Lake City’s Northpoint area.

The proposal comes as Utah’s homeless population has grown by more than 1,000 people since 2021, according to state data, despite continued investment in shelter beds and services.

According to the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget, about $25 million would go toward building the Northpoint campus at 2520 N. 2200 West, while $20 million would help operate it. But state budget officials said they still cannot say how many shelter beds the site would include or what specific services it would provide.
