Salt Lake City opens first new regional park in over 60 years

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Glendale Park, Salt Lake City’s first regional park in more than 60 years, celebrated the grand opening of its first phase on Saturday.

Glendale Park is the first regional park to open in Salt Lake City in over 60 years. It is taking the place of the Raging Waters/Seven Peaks water park that shut down in 2018. The park transformation was proposed after the former water park site began toattract trespassers and crime.

The new Glendale Park has something for everyone, including an “all abilities playground” complete with multi-colored slides, reminiscent of the water park that previously presided in the space. A full-size basketball court on the grounds might entice sports enthusiasts, while others might be more drawn to the park’s winding walking paths and shaded canopies.
