South Salt Lake mayor creating ‘action plan’ after audit finds low morale in police force

SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah (KUTV) — South Salt Lake mayor Cherie Wood said she and her team would be “highly focused” over the next 90 days on creating an action plan to address the findings of a recent audit.

Earlier this week, the results of an investigative audit found “historically low morale” in the South Salt Lake Police Department. The audit came after an anonymous survey in June found officers had no confidence in Chief Danielle Croyle’s leadership.

On Wednesday night, numerous officers and staff pleaded to the South Salt Lake City Council for a change. One city council member warned the culture was reaching a “breaking point,” and if changes didn’t happen soon, the city could see officers and staff walk out.
