Mom Thanks Homeless Community for Helping Missing Autistic Son

A Utah mother has thanked the homeless community in Salt Lake City for looking after her autistic son, who went missing with no coat, no phone, and no money in freezing temperatures.

The son, August Beckwith, 29, is on the autism spectrum and is not verbal. He disappeared on November 17 while “experiencing a severe mental health crisis and psychosis,” the National Autism Association said in a missing person alert posted on Facebook, Newsweek previously reported.

August was not a danger to others but is “extremely vulnerable and unable to seek help, communicate and keep himself warm,” the association said.

His frantic mother, Lori Beckwith, searched relentlessly day after day until December 10, when August was found after someone spotted him at a fast-food outlet and called police to perform a welfare check, the Salt Lake Tribune reported…
