SOUTH JORDAN, Utah (ABC4) — New footage has been released of a previous arrest involving the father of three children who were rescued while hiking during a snowstorm in Big Cottonwood Canyon.
Micah Smith, 32, is currently facing multiple counts of child torture and aggravated child abuse charges in connection with an incident that left one of his children hospitalized.
“This is about the emotional and psychological harm,” Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill said after filing the charges. “The way that he acted was in a depraved manner that caused emotional harm.”
Past arrest and criminal history
The filing marks Smith’s first felony charges. However, he does have multiple misdemeanor charges involving past incidents, including being chased by police over two years ago.
