SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Utah Transit Authority (UTA) has released its tentative budget summary for 2026, highlighting the major projects and funding sources.
UTA shared that the 2026 budget is strategic and responsive to changing needs and emerging demands.

The UTA 2026 budget is approxomately $1.0 billion. It will include $488 million in operating expenses, $189 million in debt service expenses and contribution to reserves, and $332 million in capital investment to fund the provision of safe and reliable public transportation services.
Capital projects
UTA stated that it receives $166 million from federal grants, state, and local partners to fund Capital projects. An additional $84 million is generated through bond financing for major infrastructure projects and new vehicle acquisitions, using either financing or lease revenue. The remaining $82 million of the Capital Budget is sourced from UTA’s local enterprise funds.
